Sankoum Cissokho et Mbar Ndiaye
appartiennent aux grandes familles de griots (poètes et musiciens) du Sénégal. Sankoum est le descendant direct de Soundioulou Cissokho « roi de la kora » de l’Empire mandingue. Mbar Ndiaye a hérité de l’art des percussions et de la narration des contes. Chez les griots, les enfants grandissent parmi les instruments de musique, une relation intime les unit, et ils se doivent de perpétuer la tradition en entretenant et animant la mémoire collective. Désireux de le partager, notamment en Europe, ils ont créé leurs propres groupes.
Forts de leur succès, ils ont accompagné et fait les premières parties de nombreux artistes de renom, représentatifs des musiques africaines (Ouza Diallo – Baaba Maal – Youssou N’Dour – Salif Keita – Amadou et Mariam).
Aujourd’hui, ce nouveau duo installé en Suisse propose sa vision d’un patrimoine vocal et instrumental ancré dans les traditions sénégalaises.
La formation de base est un duo et s’accompagnent de danseurs en fonction des lieux et des demandes.

They belong to the great families of griots (poets and musicians) of Dakar. Sankoum is the direct descendant of Soundioulou Cissokho « king of the kora » of the Mandingo Empire. Mbar Ndiaye inherited the art of percussion and storytelling. Among the griots, children grow up among musical instruments, an intimate relationship unites them, and they must perpetuate the tradition by maintaining and animating the collective memory. Eager to share it, especially in Europe, they created their own groups.
Building on their success, they have accompanied and opened for many renowned artists, representative of African music (Ouza Diallo – Baaba Maal – Youssou N’Dour – Salif Keita – Amadou and Mariam).
Today, this new duo based in Switzerland offers their vision of a vocal and instrumental heritage rooted in Senegalese traditions.
The basic training is a duet and also have training with dancers depending on the places and requests.
